Win 2 nights in Barcelona for Sant Joan!

[like]

Known as the Night of Fire, Sant Joan (San Juan in Spanish) coincides with the summer solstice, which marks the turning of the calendar. It’s a hugely popular event in Barcelona, celebrated with lots of merriment, fireworks, bonfires and music.

Parties rage well into the morning, in all corners of the city as well as on the beach. This is a time when the Spanish hold festivities to rival the Dutch Queen’s Day. Personally I’ve been part of it, so I can say from experience that it’s pretty nuts.

I’d definitely love to go again, but this isn’t about me; it’s about you. Thanks to the fabulous generosity of Andante Hotel we’re offering you the chance to win 2 nights for 2 people in Barcelona over Sant Joan.

Queen’s Day competition winner announced!

[like]

Once again, this wasn’t an easy one – we received so many comments on this competition! It was fantastic, but also really difficult, reading through them all and deciding a winner.  There are so many people that deserve to celebrate Queen’s Day in Amsterdam, the biggest party in the Netherlands! But unfortunately we can’t give it to everybody.

Win Queen’s Day in Amsterdam!

[like]

It’s by far the biggest celebration of the Dutch calendar, but remains virtually unheard of outside of the Netherlands.  However, try to have an amble along the canals on 30th April and you’ll wonder if the Dutch have been drinking from their waterways.

Queen’s Day (or Koninginnedag, if you’re going local) is an event surely not to be missed, and hotels are often fully booked over this period.  Fortunate, then, that we have a double room to give away for free in our latest competition.  Let’s look into that a bit further:

St. Patrick’s Day competition winner announced!

This wasn’t easy, to be sure. Again, we’ve had to trawl through quite a number of comments – some entertaining, some heartrending.

We’re very pleased to be able to give away this prize on St. Patrick’s Day, in celebration of Ireland’s patron saint. Who knows – next year we could give you the chance to actually join in the St. Patrick’s Day revelry in Dublin.

A great big thank you to the Castle Hotel in Dublin, whose generosity has made this possible. The lucky winner is bound to have a grand time staying in a double room for two nights and enjoying a free breakfast on each morning.

I’d better quit my jibber jabber and get down to announcing the winner.

St. Patrick’s Day competition

Despite the popularity of Irish bars in Amsterdam, St. Patrick’s Day doesn’t really stir the Dutch like Gay Pride does.  Thankfully, we’re not ones to buy into opting out, so to mark the occasion we’re giving away another fabulous prize.

If you’ve ever dreamt of promenading the exotic shores of Dublin, this could be your best chance to smuggle yourself onto the Emerald Isle.  Here’s what you could win:

Amsterdam Trio Competition winner announced!

Amsterdam Singel HotelMaaaan…this was a tough one.  We got SO many comments on the latest competition blogpost.  It was fantastic but also really difficult reading through them all and deciding a winner.  There are so many people that deserve a break, a special treat, and even the experience of a lifetime.  So we can’t give it to everybody, but at least we have one treat to give away.

First of all, thanks once again to the Singel Hotel in Amsterdam for making this possible.  Being located on Amsterdam’s central canal ring gives you the opportunity to explore so many cultural attractions of this magnificent city.  Plus, a canal cruise is a fascinating way to experience Amsterdam.

Well, I guess I should stop yapping and announce the winner of 2 nights in double/twin room with breakfast, a canal cruise and a bottle of champagne.  I already said it was tough – our shortlist was still several pages long…
