Amsterdam owns my heart, thus, I will do all that my heart wishes, I would allow all that my eyes love, I would enjoy and live as a soul in a fantasy land. I plan to propose to my girlfriend on New Years Eve! SO EXCITED! We’ve been together for 8 years… Never been to Amsterdam before… I know she’ll love it! I’ll love it! And hopefully it will be an unforgettable experience!

Firstly, I would be the happiest person on earth if I won this as I have already tried to book new year in Amsterdam but been unsuccessful in finding accommodation as most are asking for a minimum 5 night stay which my bank balance unfortunately would not support!!

On New Years Eve in Amsterdam I would start off the celebrations early and rent out a bike to see all the beautiful sights Amsterdam has to offer (and try not to get killed by the unpredictable traffic!) I would then go and chill in a Coffee Shop for a bit and then go back to The Hilton and get glammed up for the craziest night of my life! I would head to Rembrandtplein square and go round a few bars and end the night in the amazing Escape.

Amsterdam is such a beautiful and very special city to me. I been lucky enough to visit a few times with each visit seeming to punctuate landmarks in my life. Every time I return to Amsterdam it becomes more dear to me and my connection with it is deepened. It was here I spent my first crazy hedonistic girlie weekend away in the Red Light District. It was here I celebrated my 30th birthday in style in this beautiful city blanketed in snow. It was here I had my first romantic weekend away with my partner lounging around Oosterpark one sunny July soaking up the jazz. Best of all it was here, on my last visit in Nov 09 that I discovered with great joy I was pregnant with our first baby!
A lot has changed since my last visit to lovely Amsterdam, and now with a 13month old and a 3month old, weekends away are few and far between! I cannot think of a better or more apt way to ring in the New Year than in the city I love so much, looking back on the times we have shared together and looking forward to the future for many more to come! x
