Five days in Madrid – by Melda Eren
[like]
Do you remember, way back in September, we ran an awesome +1 competition on our Google Plus page? We offered you a unique opportunity to win a €500 travel voucher and all you had to do was tell us who your +1 was. Many, maaany of you did, but as with most competitions, there could only be one winner. The lucky one was Melda Eren. Melda and her +1 went to visit a place that had been on their travel list for a long time – Madrid. You can read all about her Spanish adventures right here.
Travelling to Madrid has been on our list for a long time. Especially, since I have never been to Spain before. The trip was planned and the flight was booked when we came across the Easytobook competition. Thanks to Easytobook our five days in Madrid were a lot fancier than expected…
Top free attractions in Madrid

Spain’s capital is naturally one of the country’s most expensive cities. It doesn’t take a great deal of imagination to expect that you can easily spend a fortune here if you’re not careful. That said, the best things in life are still free, right?
While it’s true that Madrid can’t offer as many free museums as London can, there are still plenty of tasty attractions that can help to spare your pockets….if you know where to look for them.
Madrid: City of Squares
[like]
Brussels’ Grand Place, Amsterdam’s de Dam, Derby’s Osnabrück Square…our world was, at one point, built around these public spaces. We traded, we gossiped, we rallied, we celebrated. Nowadays we pop into Uncle Tom’s Cabin for a sausage and egg buttie whilst we watch the tourists feed the pigeons and pose for photos.
Many squares remain fascinating and exhilarating places to spend a few hours, and Madrid is one of the best cities to throw yourself into the square culture. There are loads of them – large and small – scattered across the city. Personally, I’m far from an expert on the subject, so I’m going to team up with a Madrid native. Francisco, our Account Manager for Spanish destinations, once gave us all a wonderful view of Dublin off the beaten track. He’s back to share his tips on his home city, and my-my, isn’t he an abyss of enthralling information about it.
Win a 2-night stay in Madrid with 1 ‘like’

Time for another contest, ladies and gentlemen! After the pick your favorite city trip and WIN, it is now time to focus on one of our favorite destinations, Madrid!
However, as usual, we first have to announce the winner of the previous competition. From all of our listed destinations we chose Paris as the city in which to offer the main prize (a 2-night stay for 2 persons) and we then picked Fayzrul as the winner, so congratulations to Fayzrul!
Now let’s move to our new contest; ready, set, go!
The prize
We already told you the prize will be a 2 night stay in Madrid…but where?
In the middle of the city, between Puerta del Sol and the Gran Via, within easy walking distance of Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Cibeles and the Museo del Prado, in one of our favorite hotels: the Praktik Metropol Madrid!
How can you win this prize?

Just sleeping 2 nights in a 4 star hotel in Barcelona could be enough, but thanks to the Diagonal Zero we are able to offer you a prize that you will never forget!
