New Years Eve in Amsterdam

Pinterest

New Year’s Eve is approaching and the excitement grows; everybody already knows where to go and what to wear, friends and family are getting ready to party together and the champagne is waiting to get popped. Before entering 2011 we went out to the streets of Amsterdam and asked people a couple of questions, the most important one probably was what people’s New Year’s resolution would be. Aside from the usual “losing weight”, “quit smoking” and “be nicer to my mom”, what else do you wish for yourself this coming year? I took my colleague Kim with me, so she could help me out with interviewing some nice strangers:

Name: Mauricio
From: “A small and beautiful city next to Rome.”
Are you in town for business or pleasure? “Pleasure of course! I will stay here till the 22th.”
Where are you staying? “In the “A Train Hotel”, next to Central Station.”
What is your New Year’s resolution? “To provide a good life for me and my family, that is the most important to me…”
What destination would you like to visit in 2011? “London! I locked this city deep in my heart!”

What is your favorite thing about Amsterdam? “We just love to stroll around the streets and enjoy the beautiful architecture. The buildings here are very unique and timeless.”
What is your New Year’s resolution? “Win the lottery!”
What destination would you like to visit in 2011? “We would love to visit the US and drive along the East Coast.”

Names: Giiovanni and Ines
From: Venezuela
Where are you staying? “We are staying with some relatives in Den Haag.”
What is your New Year resolution? “To stay happy as we are with our family, to love each other and to always be together. That is the only thing that matters to us!”
What destination would you like to visit in 2011? “Believe it or not, but we just LOVE cold weather! That is why next year we want to go to Canada!”

We stopped Giiovanni and Ines just as they were on their way to the Rembrandt Museum

Name: Doros
From: Cyprus
Where are you staying? “I am very lucky to have one of my good friends living in Amsterdam, so of course I am staying with him!”
What is your New Year’s resolution? “You probably already heard it before, but I would also like to lose some weight!”
What destination would you like to visit in 2011? “My dream is to make a trip around the world but as I know it is not so realistic at the moment, I would settle for Vienna.”

Yuli (me!) and Doros

Names: Charley and Levina
From: Charley from the US and Levina from Australia
Are you in town for business or pleasure? “We came to Amsterdam in order to celebrate Christmas so for sure it is pleasure!”
Where are you staying? “We are staying in the Hilton hotel and we love it!”
What is your New Year’s resolution? Charley: “I would really love to be able to be nice to my colleagues!” Levina: “I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions, I think a person should be happy with the way he or she is without any need to change anything.”
What destination would you like to visit in 2011? “We would both just love to go and travel in Thailand or Chamonix, or both!”

As Charley was a bit camera shy Kim replaced him happily!

For those of you who are lucky enough to be in Amsterdam on New Year’s Eve, we gathered here for you some inside information on where to go and what to do:

Names: Anette and Eva
From: Anette from Amsterdam and Eva from Berlin
Can you recommend us on a good place to go in Amsterdam on the New Year’s Eve? “Sure! You can go to the “Mazzo” or the “Paradiso”; they both have great atmosphere, nice decoration and amazing vibe!

Names: Saira and Dulce (both working with us at EasyToBook.com)
Can you recommend us a good place to go in Amsterdam on New Year’s Eve? Saira: “Go to the Nieuwmarkt – a lively area in the center of Amsterdam. On New Year’s Eve the square will be packed with people celebrating together. There are many bars and restaurants there so you will not have a problem to find a place to make a toast on the New Year!” Dulce: “Aside from the Nieuwmarkt which is, like Saira mentioned before, one of the best places to be on New Year’s Eve, I personally love to go to “Feijoa” bar which is really stylish and the cocktails there are just delicious!”

Happy New Year from EasyToBook.com! (Obviously Christmas is already gone, but as we're hugging our Christmas tree... Merry Christmas again!)

About Yuli

Hi people! What can I tell about myself that will be short and to the point? Well, my name is Yuli, I am originally from Israel but came to Holland because of my Dutch husband, whom I met in Thailand. My favorite things in the world are: my family and friends, hummus and sunshine (now you probably wonder why I moved to Holland, well so do I every once in a while :-) ). I can be lazy from time to time but normally my enthusiasm surpasses all comprehension, and I cannot stop talking (or writing). Therefore, I hope you will enjoy all my posts!
