God made the Earth, but the Dutch made the Netherlands – this saying explains the practical capability of the Dutch and their sense of cultural pride. We can say the same about Amsterdam and the Amsterdammer, like New York and the New Yorkers.
Each of the 165 canals that are in Amsterdam was made by the Dutch. In such a culturally and socially rich continent as Europe, there’s no other city where people from all over the world are welcome, where every culture can have a voice and every religion can find its space. This is why Amsterdam attracts so many people from every corner of the Earth, not only as tourists, but also as potential residents and contributors to this unique community.
That’s why, following Paris and Rome, I decided to make a list of the top blogs dedicated to Amsterdam, for all the tourists willing to visit this unbelievable city.

AmsterdamCityBlog – Annabelle lives in Amsterdam and she talks about her experience; the restaurants, the fashion, and the nuances of Amsterdam life in general. It’s a nice point of view from a resident in the city.
Our Dam Blog – a great blog about Amsterdam and its lifestyle; a mixture of personal thoughts and useful tips about the city.
Stuff Dutch People Like – this is one of my favorites: Stuff Dutch People Like is a study of all things orange. It investigates and highlights the idiosyncrasies of the Dutch culture and their uncanny ability to talk on a mobile phone, while carrying 2.5 children, 6 bags of groceries, a television set, and a mattress balanced on a gear-less bicycle.
AmsterdamCityTours Blog – it’s really easy to find a lot of fun stuff to do in Amsterdam on the blog of the company Amsterdam City Tours. They also offer thorough guided tours for every kind of visitor!
John Does Amsterdam – an American living in Amsterdam talks about his life in the city, his experiences and the lifestyle in the capital of the Netherlands.
Amsterdamze – a blog by a 100% “Dutchy” that focuses on the relationship between Amsterdam and bikes.
PaysBasCycleChic – How can we make a list of blogs about Amsterdam without mentioning a blog about cycling? On this blog you will find tons of funny picture about bikers and bikes in Amsterdam. The blog is not really up to date, but is still worth a visit!
LifeInAmsterdam – what to do when it rains in Amsterdam, the best cinema in Amsterdam and the best bakeries in Amsterdam are just few of the topics you can find on this website!
PhotoDam – A daily photo blog to have a look at what Amsterdam offers.
Dam Style – A photography blog documenting Amsterdam street style, with a particular emphasis on portraiture.
Blogs about food
DutchGrub – Good Amsterdam food from a trusted source – not a vending machine – this is the author’s definition of his blog. If you want tips about food in Amsterdam, this is the blog you are looking for.
EatAmsterdam – Eat Amsterdam is a website focused on reviews and food news about restaurants in Amsterdam; really useful for people looking for nice places to eat and to taste flavors from all over the world.
TypicalDutchRecipes – looking for some 100% Dutch recipes? Here we go; on this blog you can find tons of them!
AmsterdamFoodie – Another blog dedicated to Dutch food and restaurants in Amsterdam.
Blogs in other languages
AmsterdamForFree – an Italian blog related to Amsterdam, not only for tourists, but also for people wishing to move to Amsterdam.
Anneke in Amsterdam – even if Dutch – German relations resemble Italian – French diplomacy, there are still some Germans living in Amsterdam. This blog by Anneke is a good resource for German speakers looking for some info about the city.
DucsAmsterdam – A blog about Amsterdam for expats and tourists in Portuguese.
